Call for Nominations – AFS-OC Executive Committee 2018-2019

We are currently seeking nominations for the position of President Elect, GTA Regional Representative, and Southwest Regional Representative for the Executive Committee of the Ontario Chapter of the American Fisheries Society. If you are interested in running for any of the positions, please submit a short biography (1-2 paragraph and a photo) to Bill Glass ( by May 28, 2018. Nominees must be a member in good standing of the chapter. Regional Representative positions may begin immediately following the election and the President-Elect position begins in September, 2018.

The duties of the positions are listed below.

President Elect: This is a 3-year commitment, beginning the first year as president-elect, then transitioning to President in the second year, and Past-President in the third year. The President Elect shall:

A. Assume the duties of the President, if the President is absent or unable to act;
B. Serve on the Executive Committee;
C. Advance to the office of President at the end of the term; and,
D. Arrange the annual general meeting program, presentations of papers, and social.

Regional Representative: This position is for at least one year, however, the Regional Representative may (preferably) serve more than one term. This is a non-voting position on the AFS-OC Executive Committee. The Representative should be based within that region of the province and shall:

A. Participate in the monthly Executive Committee conference call;
B. Organize and host regional chapter events or activities to the extent possible; and
C. Be a good ambassador for the chapter in your region by promoting the chapter and encouraging others to join.

Participation in some of the regions of the province is stronger than others, so this is your chance to help grow the chapter and bring some exciting events to your region.
